Molding and Casting Toy Soldiers with ComposiMold Mold Making Material

To mold this soldier turned out to be extremely easy. This soldier is about 1.5 inches tall. The green guy is the original soldier. I thought it would take a two part mold, but instead it was a simple one part mold. Here's how I did it:

Stick the plastic soldier on to a piece of polymer clay and place him and the clay into a plastic cup. Polymer clay was placed on the bottom because I expected the soldier to float in the ComposiMold.

Spray the cup and soldier with a mold release. Melt the ComposiMold in the microwave and pour around the soldier.Let cool and solidify.

When removing the original from the ComposiMold mold making material, cut the ComposiMold with a knife or box cutter in between the legs. Do not seperate the mold into two parts.

Spray mold release into the mold cavity.

Mix blue coloring into the polyurethane resin when mixing.

Pour the resin into the mold cavity and wait for it to cure (15 to 2o minutes).

Pull the new soldier out (Clone wars-here we come).

Skull Made with ComposiMold Reusable Mold Making Materials

Here is an example of a skeleton skull molded using ComposiMold. The casting was done with a polyurethane resin. This was a relatively simple one part mold. Skull was placed in a plastic container. The ComposiMold was poured over it and allowed to cool. After cooling, a mold release was sprayed in to the mold. The polyurethane was mixed and poured into the mold. About 5 minutes later, the new skull casting was removed.
