Make/Duplicate The Little Mermaid Using Remold Putty and InstaMorph

Duplicate The Little Mermaid and your other toys, sculptures, or items.

First add 2 drops of the activator to the bag for every 1oz of ReMold Putty. I used 6oz of ReMold putty so I added 12 drops of the activator. It is not important to be super accurate. Next place the putty in the microwave for 20 second intervals until it feels like clay and there are no clumps. Make sure to use the included microwave safe bag and keep it closed.

Allow the putty to cool until it is comfortable enough to touch then thoroughly knead and smooth the putty. If the putty is to hot it will slowly droop, wait until the putty is cool enough to hold it shape before creating your mold.

Push your object into the putty then diligently press the putty around the object making sure all the voids are filled. Allow the first half to solidify (you can speed it up by placing it in the freezer.) Once it feels like a stiff rubber the putty is ready. Rub a thin layer of mold release onto the first half of the mold then create the second half by pressing it onto the first half. Allow the second half to solidify and you are ready to cast.

Now pour your moldable plastic into boiling water, we used shape lock moldable plastic in this video which works the same as InstaMorph and other moldable plastics. Once the plastic turns clear remove it from the water, shape it and push it into the mold.

Now that you have a shape that is closer to the original, trim the excess place it back in boiling water and push it into the mold again. Keep doing this until you have removed all the excess and the shape is perfect.

Try starting with one part molds it’s a lot easier and practical.

Make Custom Fancy Ice Cubes (Ice Cube Molds)

First secure the object to the bottom of a container using hot glue. Apply a thin layer of mold release, spray a heavy coat of Bubble Buster then melt and pour the ComposiMold until it fills at least a quarter inch above the object. Allow the ComposiMold to cool until it becomes rubber like. Remove the mold from the container and pull it out of the mold.

Now place your mold and a cup of water in the freezer. Once the mold is as cold as you can get it (below 30 Fahrenheit) and the water is just above the freezing point (between 33-40 Fahrenheit) pour the cool water into the mold. Now wait an hour and your ice should be ready to demold.

Cool down your drink!

ComposiMold's Soy Wax Product Demo (Make a Custom Olaf Birthday Cake Candle and More!)

Now you can make a custom prize candle, diamond candle, birthday candles, led candles, man candles, and other homemade candles.

ComposiMold’s Soy Wax is a great casting material; it looks nice and works great with ComposiMold molds. ComposiMold’s soy wax has one of the lowest melting points of all available waxes with a melting temperature of just 120 Fahrenheit, plus its plant based.

Once you are ready to create a unique candle, place the soy wax flakes in a microwave safe container and heat it at 1 minute intervals until completely melted. Wait for the wax to cool below 130 Fahrenheit before pouring it into your mold. In the meantime go ahead and prepare the wick, poke a hole in the mold were you want the wick to go then force the wick through the hole. Pull the wick all the way through the mold and secure it so that it will end up in the center of the candle, then tape up all the seams/cuts in the mold. Once the wick is prepped and if your wax is cool enough you can pour it into the mold.
You will have to wait a couple hours before removing the candle from the mold, then all you need to do is trim the wicks and you have yourself a unique custom candle.
It’s as easy as that, Place it on a cake and light it up!

Mould and Cast Silicone Objects in ComposiMold. Make Dog Toys, Pet Toys, Bouncy Balls, Rubber Toys and More!

Yes, you can use silicone in a ComposiMold mold.
We frequently get asked if silicone can be used in ComposiMold, Here is a video that specifically shows how it is done from mixing the silicone to de-molding.
I looked in the toy box and found a bear that we have used for past projects.  I decided to mold it and create a rubber bear! It’s so much fun to throw around and the dogs love it!

Concrete, Dogs, Gardens and Moulds; Duplicate and Create a Concrete Poodle, German Shepherd, or French Bulldog using ComposiMold!

This video will teach you how to make and duplicate a large concrete Poodle, German Shepher, French Bulldog and other types of garden statues.

·         First create your mold box.
o   For best results use wood that has been sealed
o   Spray with a heavy coat of mold release.
§  The pieces that I used were not sealed so it made it challenging to remove the pieces from the mold.
o   The mold box is 12”X18”X29” We made sure the mold was at least 1inch thick around the entire statue.
o   Fill in all the cracks where your liquid mold making material ComposiMold could escape.
§  I used silicone caulking to too fill in the gaps and cracks. If you want to guarantee the ComposiMold wont escape, fill the mold box with water and see if it can hold without any problems.
·         Prepare your master.
o   Make sure your master is sealed.
o   Coat it with mold release.
o   Place it in the mold box and spray it with a heavy coat of bubble buster.
§  Bubble Buster is a great way to prevent bubbles from sticking to your part by breaking surface tension and allowing the bubbles to rise to the surface.
·         Create your mold
o   Melt the ComposiMold in a 55 gallon drum or a double boiler
§  Use heat belts that have a maximum temperature of 160 degrees Fahrenheit.
§  We used about 250Lbs of ComposiMold for this project.
·         Demold
o   For large projects like this wait 24 hours before removing the mold box.
§  If it still feels soft it has not finished cooling.
o   We chose to pour the mold in one part which means that we had to cut the mold in order to get the original statue out.
§  This process does work, however I would highly recommend creating a parting line ahead of time by inserting a plastic sheet where you want the mold to come apart before pouring the ComposiMold. This will make demolding a lot easier and a nicer looking mold.
o   Once you do get the original out of the mold coat it with mold release then put the two halves back together in the mold box and prepare it for the cement.

·         Create your duplicate
o   Use Pro Finnish 5000 concrete mix made by Quickcrete (or similar) which can be found at most hardware store.
§  Pro Finnish 5000 works great with ComposiMold and only takes 14 hours to cure.
o   Mix 80 pounds of cement with 1 gallon of water.
o    Pour the concrete into the mold one section at a time making sure all the areas of the dog filled especially its nose.
§  A hammer drill works great for vibrating the mold allowing the cement to flow throughout the mold.
o   The cement should be removed from the mold after 14 hours to allow it to finish curing.
o   Gently remove the duplicate from the mold to prevent cracking and damage.
o   Admire your creation then create more or re-melt the mold and make a new mold.

How To Make Custom Plastic LEGO Bionicle Masks At Home

After several requests to make Bionicles masks, we finally did it! We purchased a random Bionicle off EBay, and then we modified the mask using clay and basic sculpting techniques to create a really cool custom Bionicle mask design!  We molded the sculpted mask using ComposiMold Original then, we casted it using Clear Casting Plastic to turn it into a durable plastic part. Finally we painted it to give the mask style.

Make A Fairy garden!

Today we made a fairy garden! We used ComposiMold, a mould making material that is similar to silicone. However, unlike silicone molds ComposiMold can be re-used / re-melted. I was given the Fairy to mould a year ago but never got around to moulding it. Now that the flowers are out the Tooth Fairy sculpture seemed like the perfect project! It doesn’t get much cooler than mushrooms, Fairies, and flower gardens.

Bubble Buster Product Demo

Today we will be demonstrating how you can use  Bubble Buster to improve the quality of your molds.

Reduce Bubble Formation by Reducing Surface Tension
Bubble Buster is a PVA mixture that reduces bubble formation when making your mold. It works by reducing the surface tension so the bubbles rise up and away from the mold surface.

Bubble Buster product demo video for reducing bubble when mold making

To use: Liberally spray your original part with Bubble Buster after applying a mold release. Pour ComposiMold over your original part to make your mold. Bubble Buster is not intended for use in your mold for the casting process or for edible casting materials.

In today's video we feature a mold made of a Crazy Bone. A Toy based on an ancient Greece and Rome game called Knucklebones where children used sheep's knucklebones. Crazy Bones is a game, played with characters instead of sheep’s knucklebones. The game is played by lining up your crazy bones and your opponent lining up his/hers.  The first player chooses a Crazy Bone to flick at their opponents line up to knock down as many as possible. When a players Crazy Bones have all been knocked over, that person loses the game.
